Since 2007, Tatte bakery & cafe’s founder Tzurit Or has been making unique creations in her home kitchen and selling them at local farmers’ markets. After being forced to step down as CEO, Or has vowed to return. The newest cafe in Boston is located in Linden Square, which has become a popular meeting spot for the city’s Jewish community. Or hopes to expand her chain into the Washington, D.C. area, but is not yet certain where that will happen.

She has also been implementing employee support systems, such as making in-person employee meetings more convenient via Zoom and delivering food to homeless shelters. The owner of Tatte is one of the few women in the hospitality industry to wear a chef’s toque. Though there are few employees in her Boston-area cafes, she still finds time to meet with them. Her employees say that Or is a tough boss, but they remain dedicated to her company.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe has 13 locations, with six in Boston, and two more under construction. The café boasts impeccable design and an inviting atmosphere. Tzurit Or started her business in her kitchen 15 years ago, but has now expanded to 14 locations. Her mission was to create a place that evoked a feeling of home. The HR Director of Tatte sets the L&D and internal communications strategies, works with the CEO and COO, and supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive, scalable business plan. This position also manages special projects. The successful applicant should have excellent communication and organizational skills, be able to work independently and follow a flexible schedule, be able to lift heavy items, and be physically fit to perform their job well.

Tzurit Or is a self-trained pastry chef who began baking when she was young. Growing up in Israel, Tzurit was baking for her family, neighbors, and even large community gatherings. Her passion for baking and cooking soon led to the opening of her first brick-and-mortar shop in Brookline, Massachusetts. Since then, Tzurit has opened more cafes throughout Greater Boston, and has branched out into Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Although there are more Tatte Bakery locations, they remain true to the spirit of the original.

New Wellesley location

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is opening a new location in Wellesley on Wednesday, June 15. Located in Linden Square, the well-known Israeli bakery offers distinctive flooring and white subway tile, along with an array of delicious baked goods and sandwiches. Tzurit Or, the Israeli founder of Tatte, began her company 15 years ago in her kitchen. In doing so, she wanted to create an atmosphere that felt more like home than a typical business.

The new location is a must-have lifestyle center for Wellesley residents. In addition to Tatte Bakery, the neighborhood will also get Oath Pizza, Karma, and Atelier salon. It will also undergo a $7 million upgrade, including landscaping and outdoor furniture. All of these businesses will be located near Roche Bros. supermarket. The renovations will be complete by November 2022.

Tatte has been a beloved Boston restaurant for more than 20 years, and its new Wellesley location is no exception. This popular cafe boasts dozens of employees and a bustling domain.
